Microsoft rebranding Office 365 commercial plans as ‘Microsoft 365’ and Updates

To bring everything in line Microsoft has announced that the commercial Office 365 plans will now be known as Microsoft 365 effective 21st April 2020.

However – it’s not quite as simple as Office 365 name changing Microsoft 365. Microsoft has decided to also shuffle various products and introduce a few more.

Upcoming Office 365 name changes

  • Office 365 Essentials will become Microsoft 365 Basic
  • Office 365 Premium will become Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Microsoft Business will become Microsoft 365 Business Premium

Application only offerings will see the following changes

  • Office 365 Business will become Microsoft 365 Apps for Business
  • Office 365 ProPlus will become Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise

Where necessary “for business” and “for enterprise” labels to distinguish between the two.

Introducing Microsoft 365 F1 (again)

The current Microsoft 365 F1 (designed for Firstline Workers) is to be renamed to Microsoft 365 F3. Office 365 F1 will also be renamed Office 365 F3 provide consistency across commercial offers.

To bring clarity on how the introduction of the new F1 offering impacts the others see below.
